A North Carolina mother was arrested after allegedly attacking two school officials at a middle school in Charlotte, following an incident in which her daughter was disciplined for fighting.

On May 5, 33-year-old Mariah Hector arrived at Randolph Middle School after receiving a call from her daughter about the altercation and became increasingly aggressive with staff, according to Cleveland 19.

When asked to leave, Hector allegedly pushed past one employee, shoved principal Jennifer Schroeder into a wall, and attempted to choke assistant superintendent Jennifer Dean. Dean reportedly had trouble breathing and was left with visible injuries. The school went into lockdown before officers arrived to arrest Hector.

She was later charged with assault on a school employee and second-degree trespassing and released on bond. A second woman, 20-year-old Trinity Nixon, was also charged with trespassing after entering the school and yelling at staff despite being told to stay away.

Two weeks later, on May 20, Schroeder was placed on paid suspension. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools did not say whether her leave was connected to the earlier altercation, citing personnel privacy rules.
